Here are a couple of clarifications to manage expectations
following IPMS ScaleModelworld 2005.
Please note that the Nimrod and Canberra on the Airfix stand were products from
other manufacturers, not test shots - just like the resin TSR.2 displayed last
year. There was a hint that the Nimrod could be with us mid year.
As for the TSR.2, resin test copies in both 1/48 and 1/72 were on display (images
of the 1/72 scale resin test copy may be seen on Airfix's website. ed).
I have been working with Trevor Snowden and Dick Ward on the
model, using original manufacturers drawings rescued from the old BAC Weybridge
site, so the model should be reasonably accurate. Trevor is in Hong Kong this
week for the first test shots in plastic, which indicates a release date
sometime in 1Q06, depending on results.
The decal sheet design should be finalised in the next coupe of
weeks, again using original drawings. We even found the special drawing set for
the "stick-on" markings applied to the first prototype, which are a subset of
the full scheme visible on XR220 at Cosford.
