Alan Griffith from AMtech has supplied the following
information:
AMtech is pleased to announce that we will be
releasing an updated version of the AMT/ERTL 1/72nd scale late B-52H
kit currently being flown in action in Asia.
Yes, we know the kit has some problems, and here is what we're going
to do to fix as many as possible:
-
Tool a new wing box with
the correct angle, enabling the kit to have the proper ground
stance. In fact, we will include TWO wing boxes in the kit, one
for your other B-52 kit.
-
Tool new engine pods,
thus getting past the fact that the current ones appear to be
about 15% too small
-
Tool new weapons pylons
and beams reflecting current configuration.
-
Tool new JDAMS to PUT on
the new beams
-
Black Box Resin lumps
and bumps for all the correct lumps and bumps.
-
Maybe some etched metal
antennae to fill out the "farm"
-
Markings for two
aircraft each from Desert Storm (the birds sitting alert back in
the states since we don't think they ever flew combat during DS),
Enduring Freedom, and, if appropriate, the Up Your A.. Sadam
Campaign.
We don't know how much this thing is going to cost
yet because we don't know what the tooling will be. Like we said in
the last Newsletter, somewhere around $54.98, hopefully less.
However, the kits are already on order. Expect them around October
or so. Only 5000 kits of bird will be produced.
