Trumpeter had a sample of their forthcoming 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Me 262A-1a kit on display at the 2005 IPMS National Convention in Atlanta.

First impressions are very favourable. The kit features positionable control surfaces, including leading edge slats and flaps. These parts are secured with simple plastic tabs, so construction should be quite straightforward.

Surface detail is the most subtle I have yet seen, with very finely recessed panel lines and carefully selected rows of rivets in places. Subtle details such as fasteners are very well depicted too.

The kit also features two detailed Jumo turbojets and optional clear engine nacelles, metal landing gear and rubber tyres.

I look forward to seeing the commercial release of this kit in the coming months.
