Hasegawa's new 1/48 scale F-104 series of kits has been
rightfully praised. They are beautifully detailed and very accurate.
Dutch Decals now offer the modeller an interesting alternate range of
colour schemes and markings for the recently released F-104G and the
(undoubtedly) forthcoming TF-104G.
Their
new decals for the 1/48 scale Hasegawa Starfighter offers 19 colourful
choices of schemes and markings (click the
thumbnail to the left to view the sheet full-size). The
decals themselves are well printed and in perfect registration. There is a
choice of overall grey and camouflaged aircraft. Some very interesting
subjects are supplied, including a shark-mouth Starfighter and a
demonstration aircraft with a bold red, white and blue tail. 18 of the
subjects are Dutch, but there is one camouflaged Turkish aircraft too.
A single set of Dutch and Turkish national markings are supplied.
The instructions are a real highlight. Every subject is illustrated in
side view, with a general plan view of the camouflage pattern. There are
plenty of colour and marking notes, with cross-references between RAL and
Federal Standard paints, and a few model paint suggestions. The
instructions even include some helpful reference photographs.
The 1/32 scale sheet is similar to the 1/48 scale offering, but
subjects are limited to 7 due to the size of the markings. No national
markings are included in the 1/32 scale set.
At around US$6, these decal sheets represent great value for money
considering the wide range of subjects and supporting material supplied.
Highly Recommended as an excellent alternative for anyone building
either the 1/48 scale or 1/32 scale Hasegawa Starfighters. |
